I have been trying for about 8mos to locate an x64 driver for the soundcard
in my laptop (HP zv6000), it is a Conexant AC-Link Audio card. the only
driver that will work is "ATi Integrated Audio" but it has horible quality
and makes the speakers crack when the driver is loaded and unloaded.

Has anyone had any better luck then I have?

Ive been there, they can't help any, I'm a mamber of a zv6000 forums, ov)er
1000member and NONE of us can find a good x64 driver. Conexant refuses to
answer emails, HP doesn't support Pro x64 on the machine and their tech
support says it cant run x64(with REALLY bad reasons why. It almost seems
that unless MS can develop a driver or I can find a driver that no one else
has found..I'm stuck with a x64 system runing x86.

If the manufacturer of the hardware doesn't support XP64, then your
choices are, replace the hardware or replace the operating system.

As far as I'm aware I can;t replace the sound card in a laptop, and I would
rather run Pro x64..thats the point of the thread.

Well "Bob' aside from not understanding your need to sound ignorant.

There are many cases where you can substitute one drive for another, or
where you can get a driver that has been made or tweaked by a 3rd party. For
instance the Microsoft driver for the x86 sounds much better then the
hardware companies official driver, there have been OTHER Conexant cards that
have worked with Intel drivers.

More or less my question is if anyone knows of one of these work arounds for
my card. HP, Compaq, Gateway, and i believe EMachines have x64 laptops with
this audio card...it's ludicris to not have a x64 driver...that one driver
alone could be costing Microsoft x64 sales.
