Conecting to the Exchange Server 2003 remotely

I have a user who wishes to use Outlook 2003 rather than OWA so that he can
generate emails offline and synchronize when he is able to connect to
broadband at a later time. How can this be accomplished. The user is seldom
connected within the network. I wish to retain a copy of the emails on the
exchange server so that they are backed up each night.

Even better, the user can connect using https over RPC.

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, Chris asked:

Can you please explain how to do this??
I was trying to access my mail from an Exchange server remotely using
Outlook 2003 instead of Microsoft Outlook Web Access. I do not know exactly
what I did, but now I cannot get Outlook 2003 to do anything. It stays in
offline mode and I cannot change it under "File" or by right-clicking on the
icon. I also cannot make any changes to my Tasks or Calendar folders.

When I go to Tools/Email Accounts to try to change the settings or even
remove the new account, I get the following error message:
"The operation failed due to a registry or installation problem. Restart
Outlook and try again. If the problem persists, please reinstall." I tried to
access the email accounts through the Control Panel, but nothing happens.

When I try to add a new item to my Tasks folder, I get this error message:
"The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem
persists, restart Outlook."

I have tried restarting Outlook (and my computer) multiple times. I also
tried using "Detect and Repair" on the Help menu and with the installation
disk. The problems persist.

The only potential solution I found on the web was to click on the icon
indicating that Outlook is offline, and change it to online. This doesn't
work either. I have also tried clicking "cancel server request" but nothing
happens.

If someone can offer some advice short of reinstalling Outlook, I would
greatly appreciate it!
