Conditional Summing

Can anyone tell me why conditional summing has to be such
a pain!!!!!!

1. Why must you always use the Wizard to enter a
conditional sum???

2. Why can you not make any kind of a change to the
resulting formula?? It always trashes the conditional sum.

3. What kind of stupid programers are assembling Excel,
anyway, or is this just the obvious norm for Microsoft.

1) You don't

2) No it doesn't, unless you re-enter it incorrectly

3) Mostly pretty damn smart ones, and whilst there are numerous things that many
of us would like to see changed, we usually tend to make sure we get our facts
straight before going into any kind of rant about it.

Now, if you still want to kmow how you do what you are trying without the
wizard, then simply Array enter the formula using CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER. As long as
you have the syntax right, you will have no problems. You might also want to
read up on Array formulas:-

You can!

I know who I would bet on!

How about an intelligent, reasoned question rather than a rant!

Thanks Ken,

Sorry for the venting of steam, sometimes after reading
and reading in help files, nothing seams to come together
or get you where you need to go.

Excel is basically a good application, which I have used
for the last 5 years, and I still find myself trying to
make a database of it.

Have a great day.

LOL - No problem at all. You can ask just about anything you like in these
groups, and they really are the best help files I have ever found. There's
'almost' no such thing as a dumb question, and plenty of people around to help,
so it never hurts to ask. :)
