Conditional Formatting of Pivot Table Field

What we would like to do, if possible, is apply conditional formatting to a
pivot table field that stays with the field regardless of where the field
gets moved to on the pivot table as users move fields around while using the
pivot table for analysis. In addition, we'd like to find out if it is
possible to apply any formatting to a pivot table field where the formatting
is relative to the pivot table field and not to the cell that the pivot table
is in at the time the formatting is applied. Thanks in advance.

Conditional formatting is applied to the cells, and doesn't move with
the pivot field if you change the layout.

To format the items in a field, turn on Enable Selection on the pivot
table toolbar.
Then, point to the top of a field button, and click when the pointer
changes to a thick black arrow
With all the items selected, format the cells.
Note: the pivot table should have the Preserve Formatting option turned on.

Thank You, Debra. What I have concluded is that formatting fields this way in
a pivot table only makes sense if the pivot table is going to be static
rather than interactive.

Does anyone know if there is any VBA code that would accomplish formatting
the pivot table field rather than the worksheet cell? Thanks.
