Conditional formatting numbers inputted to bold

I'm sure I am repeating a question that has been asked many times, but I have
been looking around the board for an hour or two and thought I would give up
and get some help.

I have a spreadsheet that I have created for my track team. I am trying to
have the selected cells turn bold if they are less than a certain time and
others are greater than a certain distance. It works for the numbers that are
already there, but when I input new numbers it does not bold them. Does
someone have a formula that would work and should the cells be set as number
formatting, as apposed to general, text, or something else?

Next question is, since I am a teacher and have several classes that I am
trying to do this for, is there a way to set cells that are not in order to
always bold a number under 15.50 (for example)?

I hope I have explained this clear enough. Thanx for any help!

You shouldn't need a formula, just use cell value greater then equals less
etc
It might be that your new entries are seen as text, and you compare text
with number and text is always greater than number in Excel.
You know that you can copy conditional formatting in one cell to other
cells? Easiest is to use the format painter (paint brush), select a cell
where the formatting works, click the paint brush and select one where it
doesn't work. Still the same?

Peo,

I didn't think I would need a formula with such a simple task, but something
was definitely going wrong. I ended up deleting the column that I was having
problems with and everything was fine. Everything was bolding which tells
me--like you said--that it was have been formatted as text, instead of
general.

Thank you.

Maybe you could answer another question. Now that I have times for every
event bold, how can I have the lowest times in each event from each class,
sent to another page? Is it possible to send the time and the student's name
to my list of top times? Here is a little picture...on one page I have every
class with each students times following in C (mile), D (1/2 mile), E (1/4
mile), etc... and then on the 2nd page I have the top times in the school for
boys and girls. I would like to have it work so that when I enter a boys time
that is one of the 10 lowest times, it will be sent to the 2nd page. How
would I do that?

If you have any questions, please ask.

Thanx again!
