Computers throwing 6004 errors on our network.

We have a WIndows Network at our company with Active Directory for about 300
users. A while back, we noticed that the computers started to show a lot of
6004 errors and it was always after we installed a product called "Symantec
Endpoint Protection". I researched the errors and it seems everyone is told
to contact Microsoft so that is what I'm doing. When the errors show up in
event viewer, usually there are several together. This is what we got on one
of the computers:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: EventLog
Event Category: None
Event ID: 6004
Date: 9/22/2008
Time: 1:36:48 PM
User: N/A
Computer: REGSCANNER
Description:
A driver packet received from the I/O subsystem was invalid. The data is
the packet.

Reading the data, I get the message "MRxSmb \ Device\ LanmanRedirector

I notice some computers show the error much more than others. Can someone
shed some light on what is causing the errors and how to stop it?

Thanks!

I forgot to mention that our network is made up of both Windows 2000
professional and Windows XP desktops and some XP notebooks. We have just over
100 computers reporting this error within the last week and just under a
third has 100 instances or more in that period of time.

Contact Symantec tech support. It's their product. In any case, you aren't
contacting Microsoft by posting here. This is a public newsgroup hosted on
Microsoft servers offering peer-to-peer tech support. If you want to
