\\computername not accessible...

Paul

I have seen this message hundreds of times on the
newsgroups. I have 2 machines, one with XP pro and one
with XP Home. They both belong to the "WORKGROUP"
workgroup. I have turned on the enable NETBIOS and
Computer Browsing service as mentioned in numerous
messages to no avail. I have also checked that simple
file sharing is turned on. I can see the machines under
WORKGROUP. When I click on the machine I am on, I can
see everything fine. But when I click on the other
machine, I get the ever so popular
message "\\computername is not accessible. You might not
have permission to use this network resource. Contact
the administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions." I can't believe this message. You
would think msoft would document an error like this at
least in their knowledge base.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Paul

Thanks for your reply.
Yes, I have simple file sharing enabled on both machines.
Both firewalls are turned off.
I am using a linksys router with DHCP. I can ping both
machines, but I can't see any of the shared services.
