computer won't start up after a windows auto update

Got a brand new computer-sony vaio-and haven't allowed auto windows
update until now. After allowing windows to do an automatic update, My
computer is now locked at the screen which says 'do you want to start
windows normally'. I've tried pressing enter on 'safe mode', 'last
known configuration' and so on. i'm locked out of my desktop, and can't
get passed this window thanks to microsoft and its update. Why would a
simple update do this? Does anyone know what i can do, bar a system
recovery? Please help.

You may have to wait till it finishes checking your HD before it continues
with the boot-up... (however long it may take to complete). check the link.
