Computer Wakes Up From Hibernation

Hi,

I'm running Vista Business SP1 for the first time on a desktop and I set up
the Power Options according to KB929658 (The Hibernate option is not
available in Windows Vista). Hibernate is working fine, but the computer
later wakes up seemingly without any action on my part. Now, I have the same
settings on two laptops both running Windows Vista Ultimate SP1. Is there a
difference in that respect between Business and Ultimate or is there
something else that may be set one way on my Business configuration and
another on my Ultimate configurations that I'm not aware of?

Thanks

your first step is to discover why the computer woke up.

in a command prompt type
powercfg -lastwake

the report will tell you what caused the last wakeup and you can go from
there to turn that source off.

Thank you, Michael. I tried that and it gave me a count of 0. Is this count
only since the last reboot?

In my case, it only showed the firs 4 lines, i.e. no Type, Instance Path,
....etc. I'll check the Event Log as well and then reply to your other message.

Thanks for pointing this out.

The counts seem to imply that some type of history is maintained, I don't
think that is actually the case (at least on my Windows Vista Home Premium).
Only the wakeup source that caused the current active operation is actually
shown. In the below case the computer was woke by moving the mouse. (on the
PS/2 channel)

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6001]

C:\Users\Walraven>powercfg -lastwake
Wake History Count - 1
Wake History [0]
Wake Source Count - 1

If I ask after the computer after it has woken up in order to do a recording
of a TV program then the source is 'RTC' real time clock on the motherboard.
