Computer Shuts Down

Every now and then when I am working on my computer, it just shuts down for
no apparent reason. Then takes about 10 - 15 mins before I can turn it on
again.

Any idea's

1. Overheating
2. Faulty power supply

A faulty power supply can be diagnosed by a technician.

For overheating: Open the case and carefully clean out all the dust and
debris (cough, gasp). Do this every 6 months. With the case open, start
the computer...are both (or all three) of the ventillation fans turning
at speed? If not, get the bad ones replaced. When you close the case, be
sure to gather up the wires so they don't impede the airflow inside the
case.

You probably have a serious power fault either in the power supply,or in
the board, dont be surprised if either and/or both are no good.......

I bought a TV back in 1973, it would turn off after a while
and not work again for an hour or two. Took it back several
times to get it fixed. I'd get a phone call saying it was
working. The store didn't want to refund or replace it
since their shop (in-house Sears) didn't find anything wrong
with it.
I finally took it in and actually demanded to see the lead
technician so I could explain the problem so they would not
just plug it in and turn it ON, but would duplicate the
problem. It took about 24 hours, but they found the problem,
a cracked circuit board.
When it got hot the board would expand and the printed
circuit would move a few thousandths of an inch. When it
cooled the circuit would come back together. A little
solder fixed it..

You could have a similar problem on your mobo or a video
card, even the RAM. There are several ways to check for
cracks using dye tests, spot cooling, magnifying glasses or
a heat gun used carefully.

Thanks, I opened the case and the CPU heatsink was clogged with dust, blew
it all out and reseted the CPU and all seems to be ok, so far
