Computer not being recognised

Hi,
I have 6 to 7 computers set up on a lan, connected to a sms router which
is connected to a cable modem. All computers are running w2k, it's a peer
to peer network. Problem here is, there is this one computer i can ping all
the other computers, but the other computers can't ping this one computer.
All the computers can get on the internet fine. Sharing files between the
other computers are fine, except for that one computer. Also when play a
game using the lan option, that one computer can't join or host.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Have you tried pinging out from this machine or pinging it from another
machine on the LAN?

The symtoms indicate that there is likely a firewall installed on the
PC. Who installed it? Who's PC is this?

Run netdiag on that computer. Try pinging by its ip address instead
of name if you have not tried to. Make sure file and print sharing is
enabled and netbios over tcp/ip - in properties/advanced/wins. --- Steve

Great, glad you got it going.
ok, thanks,
was wondering which program was doing the firewall thingy. found out
that the pc-cillin had to be disabled and then renabled. thanks now it is
working. who knew that would act like a firewall. thanks again

Seems even stranger that it acted like a firewall when enabled
previously but doesn't seem to be doing so when enabled currently.
