A friend recently had me look at her computer. She was very stressed
since she said her desktop was gone and her documents were gone.
I went to look at the machine and what was happening was the computer
was logging in as a temp user when it is turned on. I ran a spyware
scanner and a virus scan as well, found some things (spy/adware) and
removed them.
On restart, the computer attempts to auto login as the user Owner
(only user on the system, her). It pops up a message that says
"Unable to locate your local profile, using a temporary profile
instead," or something of that nature.
I looked in the registry and the path to her files is set correctly.
But it will not locate the files for some reason.
Thanks in advance for any help/advice.
