Computer locks up while running internet explorer

I recently removed some nasty spyware from my computer. It was changeing my
home page etc. Now when I run explorer my computer will lock up. I can move
the cursor but web pages stop loading and the task bar won't work. I have
tried ctrl alt delete with no luck. The only way to get the computer to shut
down is to unplug it and start over. Is this a Windows XP problem or
Internet explorer prob? Something seems to be corrupted.

It sounds like you still have a spyware or hack problem... what happens if
you remove the Internet connection line from the computer?..
It should recover from the lock-up. You need to install antispyware
and antitrojan programs to remove probable malware from your computer.

First thing to do is, disable or remove running processes from:
Start\Run\type: "msconfig" and Enter\Startup tab\ and uncheck non-system or
antivirus processes.
Next: Start\Run\type: "regedit" and Enter\ browse to the Run keys in the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and CURRENT_USER hives and delete suspicious process
values.

Path to follow in registry hives:
HKEY_(Local_Machine &
Current_user)\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Next install recommended antispyware and antitrojan programs:
Install Adaware SE Personal, Spybot Search & Destroy, CWShredder, and The
Cleaner.

If necessary scan the computer in safe mode for better results. To start in
safe mode press F8 as the machine restarts and hold untill the start mode
options list appears, highlight "Safe Mode" and hit Enter.
