Computer keeps rebooting after windows update

Windows just installed an update and now it continuously reboots. It boots to
the welcome screen and then shuts down and reboots again. I tried turning off
the automatic reboot option when I press F8 but it didn't seem to stop it. I
can boot into safe mode, but after I get there I have no idea of what to do.
What can be done to figure out what's happening?

From Safe Mode uninstall that recent update. Look for it in Add/Remove
programs. If you don't know what update it was, go to Safe Mode with
networking so you can get on the internet, go to the windows update site and
check the update history. It should tell you what update was last
installed.

If it's not listed in Add/Remove programs or it won't uninstall from safe
mode, then do a system restore to the restore point created at the beginning
of it's installation. Go to Start | Help and Support and click on System
Restore to get it started.

When I try connecting to the internet my computer dies and I get the blue
screen. I tried going to the microsoft update site on my laptop using Firefox
and apparently I can't see anything unless I'm using IE. Even if I
uninstalled the latest update my computer is going to eventually want to
install it again won't it?

There is more than one way to do things. Did you try system restore? Also
look in the C:\Windows folder for the the folders labeled
$NtUninstallKBxxxxxx$. Those are the uninstall folders for updates
installed through Windows/Automatic updates. Look at the Date modified for
those installed on the date in question. Using that list now go to
Add/Remove programs and remove the one(s) installed on that date, then do a
system restore to the restore point made before this update was applied.

After the system is running, turn off automatic updates. Go to the windows
update site, do a custom scan and install the updates one at a time. One
person posted in here having a problem after installed a group of updates,
but no problems, after they were all removed, with installing them one at a
time.

If one update still causes a problem then after removing it per the previous
procedure, go back to windows update, do a custom scan, and hide that
update, then research why it's causing the problem and any work arounds.
There is a windows update newsgroup which is a good place to go for issues
related to updates from windows update.
