computer is slow

My computer runs slow and it was never like that before.
I cannot even access the internet. I've deleted files and
cookies. I even replaced the winsock key in the registry.
I was wondering if it can be a virus and if it is what
antivirus program is available to remove the virus. I have
norton but it still does not help. Please advise!

Look at your Task Manager (press Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and find out
what task is eating away your CPU resources.

Stuff to check:
Lack of hard drive space
Scandisk and defrag your hard drives.
If its only your internet that is slow, check if others on the same ISP are
having the same problem.

Check for spyware on your PC (use a freeware program like Adaware)
Check that you haven't enabled Journals in Microsoft Outlook - it is enabled
by default when you install it.
Check for Trojans with The Cleaner at the Moosoft site
Run the Blaster and Welchia fixes at the Symantec site
Can't think of anything else at the mo.
