To be more specific = add a LOT more RAM - at least another 512mb on top
You'll get the same problem if all you do is double your existing. RAM (I
had 256, added 512, to overcome similar - and my prob was not 3Dgaming,
which is notoriously memory-hungry)

Hmm,

no offence to the original reply author, but in my
opinion, simply throwing Ram and graphics at a system
isn't always going to help.

to be able to help you more, we need more information.

If you can send me your machine specification, and the
game you are having problems with, along with any error
mesages you receive, i can have a go and finding the
problem.

Send them to the following address, where _ is really a .
and AT is a @.

With all due respect to you Steve I don't think anyone was advocating "throwing" RAM at anything. If you know anything about computers then you know that the graphics intensive games of today are memory hungry and will quickly use up and overtax a system with such a small RAM. 128 is barely enough to operate XP let alone run a game. Designating a large pagefile is not the answer either as then information gets degraded and lost in the I\O operations piled one on top of the other at such a pace that page faults are created. The solution is to improve the RAM and in this case a minimum of 512MB will allow you to run most, notice I said most, 3D games. That combined with a graphics card with a minimum of 64MB of memory will go a long way to stabalize the system. After that you will need to do some configuration as options like "fog table emulation" will cause conflicts in some 3D games. Good luck.
