Computer date changed without a reason?

Doug Mc

Yesterday morning (10/23/07) I noticed that our SENT e-mails were not in the
Sent folder.
I looked everywhere I knew to look and couldn't find them.
I worked with my ISP thinking that it or Outlook Express had a failure.
They couldn't find a problem.

This morning I happened to be browsing my Sent folder again and found them!
They were all there but the date was 10/2/07 rather than 10/23/07!

I checked my clock. The time is correct but the date was 10/04 instead of
10/24 (today.)
I did NOT change it.
I corrected the date, sent myself an e-mail and it appeared in the Sent
folder as it should.

Does anyone have an idea how this date change could happen?

Thanks,
Doug

there is an option/feature
that will allow the windows clock
to automatically be synchronized with
an accurate clock maintained
over the internet.

if the feature is enabled, then
you should also check that the
windows clock properties
indicates the correct timezone.

if both of the above are
presumed to be properly set
on your system and the
time continues to become
inaccurate then the motherboard
cmos battery might need to be
replaced...

Thanks. Didn't know that.
It IS set to be automatically synchronized with the internet.

May be the battery. I'll keep an eye on it.

Thanks to you both.

May I suggest you set your time sync server to tock.usno.navy.mil
Daylight savings time changes this year are different than what they have
been. Many time sync servers are having problems.

For Internet time synchronization to occur, the computer's current time has
to be close to the time on the time server. Synchronization would not have
occurred if the dates were weeks apart.
