Computer acting funny

I don not know much about how computers work and I even asked the IT guy at
work and he was clueless. About a week ago my computer started to not load
the internet completely. The internet page came in with no logos, just the
text and boxes where the pictures should be. By the way, I should mention
that I had a hard drive problem back in May and my IT guy at work replaced it
for me with a new one and cleaned up the desktop and such. So, there is
hardly anything on my desktop and it had been running fine since then. So,
now when I clicked the internet either it does what I mentioned above or
displays a message: not enough data to complete the action. Or the another
message about the C drive. It always mentions the C drive and I don't know
why. Then, the IT guy suggested doing a System Restore and I did restore it
until mid-July. I thought maybe when I downloaded QuickTime that it slowed it
down because that was the last thing I downloded. So, I tried to uninstall
that and do the restore to 2 days before I downloaded QuickTime. I am not
sure it worked because the computer kept saying that same error message. The
programs on the desktop are slow and the internet did open last night as
usual with pictures and all, but it was very slow.

ANY IDEAS???

This may sound silly, but try doing 3 restarts in a row, and see if that
helps anything. XP rearranges the registry entries on the fly and sometimes
that can help.

If you are using Internet Explorer, go to TOOLS/INTERNET OPTIONS/ADVANCED
and scroll down to MULTIMEDIA and see if the settings for SHOW PICTURES is
checked and SHOW IMAGE PLACE HOLDERS is UNCHECKED.

Good luck

well,

it sounds like you did
a windows system restore.

the one care by Microsoft
takes care of a number of
issues.

if you ran it or not sure
you can try it again.

not sure why your i.t. guy
is having a problem with
isolating your issue.

as a suggestion before you try one care
go ahead and boot into safemode
with networking options and
see if you pc acts better in that mode.

then let us know

Ok, wait a minute. After further reading it seems that I did this last night.
I mantioned it above. It actually made the computer worse. The desktop icons
all disappeared and then didn't come back until I restarted the computer.
