I would get this if I didnt get my Viewsonic LCD for 19" for $299
last week. They lived up to their bargain and gave it to me for 299
due to a price mistake on the web -- selling everywhere else for 399
with rebates or much higher. Says penny shipping.

Last week they had a 17" benQ lcd for 189 -- people said they were
substituting the 16 ms response time models. Everyone loves to bash
them but believe it or not they are the best store in my region. They
live up to their ads -- have tons of supply during the sale or they
always take rainchecks. And theyve been having some great deals
lately. I even got a firewire card 3 port 9.99 last week after someone
posted it ---- maybe a lukewarm deal where you are but unbelievable
where I am. Shipping is around $20-30 minimum to where Im at and I
mean for screws or a cpu.

The specs on it seem a bit optimistic -- 700:1 contrast ratio, 300
brightness, 8 ms reponse and they claim 16.7 mil colors. At Anandtech
theres a thread where people bought it last week for a tiny bit more
at Chieftech or something and they seem to suggest its a 6 bit panel
which I would suspect with a 8 ms reponse time. However they claim its
16.7 mil colors - usually 6 bit panels say 16.2 mil.

On yeah the 17" LCD deal this week 179 or 189 no rebates FMI
no dvi seems like it might be a dog. Someone mentioned they talked to
COMPUSA and they say the response time is 35 ms which is unusually
slow. The usual is 25 ms and the less than 25 ms group. The BenQ deal
last week seems like it was a lot better.
