Compress Old Files always returns as 0 Files

I have been using my system tools in XP Pro regularly. When I run Disc
Cleanup, all aspects seem to be fine except my "Compress Old Files" now
always shows that there are no files to be compressed. I know there must be
heaps but it always comes back with 0 files. There may be a few encrypted
files, but I know there are many that are not. Please, any help is much
appreciated as I am losing my hair...

Since I hace posted this, I have checked around and fount that this is a
fairly common problem that occurs but nobody knows what causes it. Is there
ANYBODY that can help or advise what is the cause of this? I now find that I
speak for at least 6 other people...
