Complete PC Restore

L

Linear2202

Anyone tried to use this? I did a successful complete PC backup. I then
tried to restore by pressing F8 before boot, but I saw no menu item that
allowed me to enter the system restore menu. Three boot choices of safe
mode, and then other choices that didn't help me at all.

I'm using RC2. Any thoughts anyone?

Thank you.

I couldn't find it there either. I have to boot the Install DVD and use the
"Repair" option from there.

Interesting, I had tried that, but must have missed something. What prompt
am I looking for?

Thanks...

When you boot to DVD, there should be a link on the opening screen for
repair options. I believe it's in the lower left-hand corner. It's easy to
miss but it should be there.

Jill,
Working good for me in 5744 now; but; one little point.
When you install the last dvd;it'll find the backup index and work, but then
says you have the worng dvd in.
O.k. that's fine;and true;but after putting in dvd #1;when it is done;it
then also says you have the wrong dvd in;please use the next dvd.
This is just wording;and symantics;but it does say-error.
Might want to have your people look at that.
Instructions are much better in 5744;and it WORKS GREAT-BTW

Thanks for the tip about the error message. I've let the team know and will
report back here once I know what the issue is.

Just keep hitting F8, select safe mode. in safe mode, you can do a system
restore
I know it works!!!!

Thanks everyone, I'll be looking for it. The link looks pretty obvious, not
sure why I missed it.

So, when the restore is taking place, you will need to insert the last DVD
that was used during the creation of the restore point first, and then go
back to the first one? I needed two DVDs when creating a complete backup.

Thanks again.

Yup,
It took me awhile to figure that out; hence; the ongoing thread with
Jill.
After you make your Complete restore discs, the 2nd one has the index;so put
it in first; it'll see the index; then put in the 1st one. It's spelled out
in recovery now.
Jeff
That's only if you have more than 1 dvd;which you said you did.

I used Complete PC Restore, and it rpocked my socks off. It did require the
DVD being in to do so, using the repair option, and searching for the
complete back-up, on my second hard drive, 20 minutes and I was rocking agan.
Now I didn't see any errors, but then again, I may have just been lucky.
