compatible OS

the Microsoft website says this software is compatible
with several OS, starting with Windows 2000. it makes no
reference to Win 95, 98, or ME.

i realize that these are older OS, but some of us can not
afford to spend $100 a year to upgrade. and i have reached
the point that i have decided to not upgrade my OS until
such time as security becomes less of an issue. i know
there would be benefits in upgrading to Windows XP SP2,
but there are fewer security issues with the OS i am
currently using, or so it seems. the spyware and adware
just keep coming, though.

will this software work on any of these systems? if not,
is there any plan to make a version that will?

I wonder too. This beta software is just a re-worked
version of Giant anti-spyware, is it not? Giant was
compatible with Win 98. MS have hired former Giant
personnel. How hard could it be?

I read elsewhere that the program Counterspy is the same as this
product (prior to future MS enhancements) except it is not free and it
does support WIN98. You can Googleit ....

What cracks me up is M$ had to go to extra expense and
effort to REMOVE Win 9x compatibility before releasing.
Everybody bend over, here comes Bill, and he needs more of
your help to buy a college for his kids to go to.

This program will only work on Win2K and above.

And so far its not working so well on those. But I
understand that the actual removal of compatibility code
for Win 9x went quite well.
