i have been having this problem of an unwanted toolbar from
lop.com.i dont know how i got it and have been unable to
uninstall it. i have contacted them (lop.com) thru email
but they didnt bother to reply.being exaperated, i opened
the registry editor hoping i could find smthg to delete to
disable the toolbar from popping up(they pop up even when
my poppup blocker is on) and end up messing up with my
IE.then i decided to uninstall the IE, but it seems to be
immortal..then i opened my reg editor again and deleted
some entries related to IE, hoping that the new IE
installer prog wont find the latest version on my pc and so
i can install new IE.but still, i cant get it out of my
pc.and when i start my browser, it gives a message saying
thats it is running in compatibility mode.few moments later
it'd say "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and
needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience." and
then it would close.for your info, i use mozilla and opera
as well, but i still need IE coz some websites cannot
appear perfectly in other browsers.(i use XP)

I wonder if my reply to Lisa (just a few messages down)
might also be helpful to you? I know one thing for sure;
when I run Spybot, one of the many spyware items it
searches for is called 2Lop, so I wonder if there is a
connection?

See

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

and:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

More: This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite).
Get AdAware and Spybot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
