Compare/Contrast Capture Methods

Is there a chart anywhere on the Internet that shows, very specifically, the
difference between DV-AVI, High Quality Video (NTSC) and High Quality Video
(2.1 mbps NTSC) ?

A current project I am working on is taxing my hard drive using DV-AVI. As
this is the only project in the forseeable future that requires this much
space, I cannot justify the purchase of an additional hard drive.

Quality concerns me greatly...but that is just the way I am. I'm sure
nobody who sees this video will notice any difference among the above three,
once it is burned onto a DVD-R. Which of the above provides the greatest
quality per MB?

I understand DV-AVI and High Quality 2.1 are standard rate compression
modes, whereas High Quality Video is variable rate. Does this make a
difference? Should I care? Should I use Sonic MyDVD or CyberLink's
PowerProducer to capture?

Not that I know of.

Try freeing up space by cleaning up the hdd and removing other items not
required.

AVI is far above the rest in quality, but as you say if the people who are
watching it cannot tell then you make the decision which way to go. Bear in
mind when you compress the already well compressed wmv into an mpeg2 it will
deteriorate further.

If you capture to dv-avi it doesn't matter what you capture with. When you
output to mpeg2 it makes a lot of difference which app you uise and the
settings in it.
