Compaq Presario hard drive in a dell laptop?

I was told I may be able to put the hard drive from my Compaq Presario
laptop into a Dell laptop. Does this sound right? Is the architecture
similar in laptop hard drives as it is in desktops?

depends on the specific laptop models involved. With a smidgeon of
mechanical skills/intuition on your part the swap should work fine.
