Comp no longer reads CDROM or CDRW

I followed instructions to fix a problem. I uninstalled CDRAWL2K.sys, and now my computer doesn't recognize either drive. I've tried using the add new hardware, but it gives me an error code 39. When I checked the system info, under problem devices I get Error message code 34 for both drives, and a code 39 forAdaptec AHA-154X/AHA-164X SCSI Host Adapter (non-pnp) ROOT\UNKNOWN\0001. The other drives are

Have you tried system restore or a repair install?

Yes, I tried system restore, but no results there. It said it could not restore to the times I tried.
