"Common Client User Session" shut down, causing problem?

I've had the "Common Client User Session" had to shut
down message popped up a few times, and I'm not sure if
it's the cause of the XP problem.

I'm the only one uses this computer and never had to
login at startup. but 2 days ago when i booted the
machine it was much slower than usual and the login box
popped up and asked for a password. Then my Norton
Internet Security did not launch. When I clicked open the
NIS the firewall/antivirus features were either off or
disabled. eventually i had to uninstall NIS.

I did a Symantec online virus scan then, did another one
tonight and also one using Trend Micro online, all came
back clean. I also did Spybot and Adaware scan, not much
out of the ordinary (i think..).

In addition to the different startup and shut down
sequence then before (with the XP boxes in the centre of
the screen), I cannot open the "Add/Remove program"
window. An hourglass appears for a few seconds and
nothing would happen. I suspected corrupted NIS may have
caused the problem. But it is still the same after
removing NIS. All I noticed is the "Common Client User
Session" had to shut down. But I first encountered this
over 2 weeks ago. I'm at my wits' end as to what I can do
to fix this other than to restore the whole system (OEM
machine). I tried System Restore but the only reference
point was the day the system started to get whacky.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Winnie

Hi

I read the posts and confirmed my suspicion that this is
related to Norton. But I've already uninstalled it and
the XP is still whacky. I tried Norton tech support but I
don't think the particular person I talked to is aware of
the issue. I tried searching the Symantec KB, found
nothing either. Any other suggestions??
Thanks.

Hi

I don't use any Norton products, so don't which part of the product may be
causing this problem. Did you manage to pinpoint which part of Norton was
running when the problem first appeared?

Hi

I installed both Norton AntiVirus and Internet Security,
and both the firewall and antivirus were either off or
disabled when the problem first appeared. One of the
posts I read said Norton AntiSpam caused the problem but
I never enabled the feature. Now I am thinking about
reinstalling the software, but I also fear that might
further screw the system up. The computer is still
workable for the most part. Thanks.
