Common Bullets

After running scandisc after a power outage, the bullets used by the OS
changed from "Common Bullets" font to "Wingdings" so that when I pull up my
Start List or a program window, all of the bullets are wrong. How can I reset
this?

Rightclick desktop, Properties, Appearance, Advanced button, Item dropbox
set to ICON, see FONT setting.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work. I tried that, but the Icon
item font just controls the font for the writing under icons, it doesn't
change the bullets used in the system. My problem is that wingdings are being
used instead of the bullets. For instance, the X for close window is replaced
by a box, the arrows on the start menu are replaced by little mouse symbols.
By some investigation, I discovered that it was supposed to be using the font
"Commonbullets" but is using "wingdings."
