I have the following code to gather all notes to a new sheet, can anyone
help me change this to open a new workbook

Create a new workbook with a single sheet for the comments?

if yes:

Set newwks = Worksheets.Add
becomes
Set newwks = workbooks.add(1).worksheets(1)

Add a new single sheet workbook and use the first/only sheet.
