command line argument problem

D

Dave Phillips

I installed Windows XP Service PAck 2 recently and am getting the following
error when trying to open OUTLOOK 2003 from Office 2003.

"Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. The command line argument is not
valid. Verify the switch you are using."

How can I fix this?

Rightclick your shortcut to Outlook and remove any switches in the Target
path.

or

browse to Outlook.exe and recreate the shortcut

I have tried your suggestion, also installed, repaired again. Nothing doing.
I cannot find any parameters on the exe. Any more help at all please?

Does the same happen when you open it by dubbleclicking outlook.exe
directly?

I have the same issue. I get this error message when I click on the shortcut
in my taskbar. I removed the recycle switch but that didn't help. When i
double-click on the Outlook icon in my Office folder in Program Files I still
get the same error.

I tried outlook.exe in Run and it worked fine.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I have tried all suggestions for fixing this problem but still cannot run
Outlook without getting the command line error. The applications runs okay if
invoked from Start/Run/cmd.

Any more possible solutions?
