Combining Disk Partitions

I had a little delema and ended up installing w2k on 3
different partitions. I needed to get files from 1
partition to another. After doing some cutting here, and
pasting there. Im really not comfortable deleting either
partition for fear that some files or their components
both made it to their proper destinations. Is there a way
I can combine my C: drive which contains the system files,
and my F: drive, which contains the boot partition,
toghther? This way I know for sure some things will not
get deleted.

Dominique,
You are in trouble, it is possible to make your C: drive
bootable and update the BOOT.INI pointers, however they
way that you have loaded the operating system tells me
that you don't know a lot about it... Sorry to be so blunt.
If you wnt down this path it is likely you could loose the
lot.

My best sugestion is
1/ Copy all your data of to CDs or a network location
2/ Gather together all your application software
3/ Re-install the Win 2k operating system and in the
process delete all partitions and re-create one.

Please make sure yor C: drive is no less than 4 gig (this
will allow for some growth) If you have a small C: drive
and a 2nd hard drive place all your data on your 2nd hard
drive. At a later time you may wish to look at spreading
the swap file over the 2 hard drives...

David,
When I was installing the OS I was doing it in despiration
just to save my data I had no clue how it was going to
turn out. When you say a 2nd hard drive do you mean an
actual hdd installed as slave or secondary master? I do
have one that is not installed. I have lost most of my
data already. I will back up what I have left and delete
and repartition everything. Thank you for your help

Dominique,
When you said you had an F: drive I guessed that the drive
letters D & E were in use by another partition or 2 CDs
thus creating a F: drive as the next available drive
letter for a logical partition..

The 2nd drive I refered to was a 2nd HDD.

Backup your data and re-install deleting all your existing
partitions... It will give you a better starting point for
the install of subsequent applications, patches and
upgrades.
