Addendum to what Ted said:
Once in a great while, systems start to behave poorly (especially video)
when they run low on memory. Check Task Manager (ctrl-alt-delete) and tab to
the Performance tab. Look at Physical Memory - Available. Is it low? Less
than a quarter available of your total?
If it is, then go to Control Panel - System - Advance (Tab) - Performance
(Settings) - Advanced (Tab) - Virtual memory.
If it is set to "System managed size", click on Custom size. Initial Size
should be the same as your physical memory size. Usually 512MB. Maximum size
should be two to three times this size. 1024MB or 1536MB.
Remember to press "Set".
If this works, your good.
If not, follow Ted's advice.
PS. Make sure you always have good air circulation around your CPU and all
vents are dust free. If you feel a lot of heat coming out of your computer,
you may want to have it cleaned.
