Color of Selected Cells

I just switched to Excel 10.1.4 from 98. In Excel 98, a selected range of
cells appears in a dark highlighted color. This was useful for seeing
which cells were selected. But in Excel 10.1.4, selected cells look the
same as surrounding cells. There is a slight change in color, more like a
transparent shadow, but it is hard to see on a laptop. I can't find any
info in the help files on how to change the selection highlight color.
Anyone know how?

You can change the selection colour, but it will still be transparent.
To change the selection colour, change the settings in your Control
Panel. (Instructions for Windows XP)

1. Right-click on the desktop, and choose Properties
2. On the Appearance tab, click Advanced.
3. From the Item dropdown, choose Selected Items
4. Choose a colour, click OK, click OK
