" Yea, but new posters have to take a number "

Like in the Deli you work at?

If I worked in a Deli I would weight 500 pounds. I'm not even half
that. I also want to know who started double zero. That's not a
number. Now you got me started on one of my pet peeves. Why or why do
most people that work in a Deli have no concept of what "slice it
thin" means? It varies from being shredded that if you hold it up to
the light it is almost transparent and all the "slices" stick to
together or someone is too lazy to slice it thin and you get maybe
twenty slices per pound. That's not thin.

"Wholesome goodness"??? Pleasssssssssssse

Playful banter has been part of newsgroups from the beginning.
Apparently you're not too bright not even knowing you're posting to a
newsgroup through some stupid web site. What does that suggest about
your intelligence? Not much.

didn't know there was one and i don't even care to read it. micorsoft

*thinking: you know it's true what people said about french make things
sound better, if i had said the english word, people might have been "OMG,
can't believe he said that" but with the french word it sounds nice, *on a
side note just don't try to kiss it, J.K.* like the word for doo doo, i'm
using the kids word cuz i want no one to get mad, but in french is sound
nicer than english *on a side note: just don't eat it* lol, this was fun to
write i just hope people will laugh at it lol*

oh yeah i think a lot, and very fast, now i'm tired of typing all i'm
thinking, lol

They do have a terms of service for this site, under which is a code of

Except that this is not a SITE, it's Usenet, you just happen to be using
a WEB PORTAL TO USENET, which is nothing like the Web or Usenet. Web
interfaces to Usenet services are always funky and bad ideas.

The only true way to enforce a TOS is to make the group MODERATED, and
that means that all posts have to be approved by some means before they
show up in Usenet.

MS has, in the past, when the filtering services were provided by ON-
SHORE people, setup bans and filters to block posts, but it only works
on their servers, people that post via other servers can see their posts
as well as people using other servers to read these groups - the
filtering only works if you post/read from the MS Usenet servers - and
most do not.

I'm afraid it doesn't apply. Microsoft public newsgroups are
propagated throughout Uenet. That means I can access this group by
setting my newsreader to msnews.microsoft.com or to my own ISP,
news.west.cox.net or to news.motzarella.org or to..... get the picture?

Microsoft offers terms of service to those using the dreadful web
interface but those TOS are not enforceable nor do they apply anywhere
else on Usenet.

The TOS applies to ALL groups.

Sorry, it DOES NOT!

Now go back and read my reply to your first post and

Get a newsreader and stop using that awful CDO and

Learn more about Usenet.

I don't consider insults and personal attacks "good fun".

In one of my previous posts when I said to get a newsreader and stop
using that lame CDO I should have also mentioned to learn to use a
killfile. You'll find it much easier to use this group when you learn
to not see posts from some of the trolls here.

We'll make a usenet pro out of you yet!

This is Adam, I suggest he is the first in your kill file or you will get
abused by him.

Adam fits in those spaces quite well.

Has ANYBODY (other than the MVPs) read it??

Helen,

it's a bit like real life unfortunately, there are those whose conduct
is unacceptable but not likely to be changed by any rules. These people
exist and are allowed to live among us, there is little one can do but
avoid them.

Learn to recognise the usual suspects in their various guises and ignore
their posts or use an interface which provides a means of making them
invisible.

Regards
Tom

Unfortunately, this is usenet, and nobody can police or patrol it.

You get the wheat with the chaff, and the only real solution is to figure
out the ignore list/kill file for your particular interface.

well actually these are M$ privately owned servers you simply access the
same way as you do Usenet. You might recall setting up the news account in
your software. You might also be able to access them through a private ISP
usenet newsgroups. If it starts with "microsoft", it is on a privately
owned server. Likely in Redmond Washington. Since none of that really
matters, being as access to the servers groups is totally open to the
public; I'll just begin my first killfile on this new computer. That is
good advice you gave Helen there.

You REALLY need to take your meds BEFORE you start posting or you
sound rather crazy.

Well, actually, using Microsoft's servers are not the only way to
access these newsgroups.
