C'mon Microsoft...Please put the new equation tools in Powerpoint

Kudos to the MS folks for so successfully revamping the equation editing tools.

But shame on you for only putting them in Word!!! Why not Powerpoint, too?
You have an entire community of scientists that relies on Powerpoint
presentations to communicate at conferences. If you've already upgraded this
tool, why not put it in both programs? The old equation editor is
functional, at best.

If you want more than "functional, at best" in PowerPoint, may I
suggest MathType?

I just left a conference of mathematicians in San Diego, and spoke
with many of them who use MathType in PowerPoint -- quite happily and
quite successfully. We're very pleased with the reaction we're getting
from mathematicians and other scientists about several of the new
features in MathType 6, released just a few months ago. Specifically,
you can now type [La]TeX directly in the MathType window, and
immediately get a typeset equation you can use in PowerPoint (or any
other application in which you can use MathType). If you have an
existing [La]TeX document, you can copy an equation out of it, paste
it in MathType, and then use it as you would any other MathType
equation.
