Cmd.exe

After having fiddled with the Cmd.exe shortcut properties
at some stage, my command prompt now has strange
unfixable color and cursor settings, which are also
forced on to other programs run in that command shell.

Even if I create, say, a new shortcut on the desktop, the
same strange properties are inherited on the new shortcut
icon.

If I run 'cmd.exe' from the Windows Run prompt, it runs
ok. The problem is only when I run from an existing or
new desktop or Start menu shortcut.

Any ideas how to reset these properties to the default
settings?

Thanks in advance,

Tim

Hi

At a command prompt try typing the following to see what happens:

prompt $P$G

Hi

Try this as well:

Go to the Command Prompt in Programs>Accessories, right click on it, select Properties and then the 'Colours tab. You may be able to change the options in there.

What happens when you open the command prompt and select the icon at the top
left of the window and then select Defaults?
