What I believe the option means is that when you copy a second item to the
clipboard, the taskpane will open. Normally the clipboard houses one item.
When you copy it, you can paste it (CTRL-V). When only one item has been
copied, it is the only thing that can be pasted. However, as soon as the
second item is copied, you now have choices so the taskpane pops up.

At the bottom of the TaskPane/Clipboard is an option button. One of the
options is to have the clipboard automatically displayed (presumably when a
new or saved document is opened). I cannot get the task pane or clipboard
to be displayed when I open a saved document? Why? Is there a way to get
the clipboard to appear automatically each time I open Word, and more
importantly each time I open a saved document?
