Clicking on cell

When I click on a cell, it clicks a whole group of cells. I only want one
cell clicked. This is very frustrating and I can't get it to just click the
one cell no matter what I do. I am not clicking the Control button with it.
I tried re-installing Excel, restarting, re-saving the file and nothing
worked. I have Windows XP, a new computer, MS Office 2007.

Why does it do this?

Sounds very frustrating, sorry!

Do you have the Extend Selection enabled? It will display "EXT" in the
status bar at the bottom (Press F8 to toggle it on/off), at least in Excel
2003... I think 2007 still displays the status bar...

I have a co-worker who has a similar problem when his laptop is docked, the
left Shift key disables his extended selection.

Hope this helps, Jim

Well, I checked and no, I don't have that selected. Funny thing is that I
don't have this problem all the time. It only seems to do this occasionally
and I can't figure out why! Thanks for the suggestion.
