Clear history of Fax and Picture Viewer

How do you clear the history of all the pictures you have
viewed using the Windows Fax and Picture Viewer in XP?
When I open up a new picture I have been sent, you can
view lots of ones I have opened months ago by clicking
the backward and forward buttons. I don't want that.
Thanks

The Photos you are seeing are all in the same folder and need to be deleted
from that folder. An Example: If you View files in the Temporary Internet
Files folder you will see files that have been downloaded from the Internet
when you click the Forward and Back Arrows.

No, I know the difference between Paint and Fax & Picture
Viewer. It may not have what is considered a history, but
it is definitely bringing up lots of files I have looked
at previously.

That sounds reasonable, as they are all jpg files
attachments I received in Outlook. But whay file folder
are they stored in? They don't go away when I clear all
temporary internet files...

Ok...try this...right click one of the unwanted images
and from the menu...choose Properties...on the
General tab at "Location" you will find the path
to the image.

Now, if you go to...Start / Run...and copy/paste the
path to the unwanted image in the "Open" field and
left click "OK". This will open the folder that contains
this image.

then that does not qualify as a "history"....it is like
looking at pages in a book of pictures.
if you delete this "history" you remove the pictures in
the folder/book.
change to different folder you get different "history".
therefore there is no "history" in fax & picture viewer.

Yes, yes, yes! Problem solved. Many, many thanks.

Well, gee, anonymous helper, thanks for pointing out
my "loose" use of the term "history". Not quite as
helpful as others who were able to look past my poor word
choice and help me find the right folder to clear out.

ok....but people should always re-read and know what they
are asking. a tire is not a wheel in auto parts world.

You will find there will be times when you need to read between the lines in
order to help someone. It can be very agitating and discouraging for a
poster if the only response(s) they get are to correct them on a mistake in
their post and not assisting them by giving them a possible solution or
pointing them in the right direction.
