Cleaning up after System Restore

B

bw

Hello. I've done as many searches as I can think of on
Google and Microsoft, and come up empty. So I'm turning
to this community in final hope of what I think may be
some simple, if apparently obscure, answers.

I, perhaps like many of us, have used the System Restore
facility of Windows XP a lot. I've got a lot of restore
checkpoints. I've also got a lot of "backup" folders and
files (name(1), name(2), etc.) from restoring to those
checkpoints. It stands to reason that some of these are
so dated as to have become useless. I was wondering if
there is any way to intelligently cleanup these items, or
if they are forever tangled into the System Restore
spaghetti pile.

Thanks in advance for any links, docs, pointers, or
personal experiences you can offer.

If your system is running properly right now,and has
been for a while, then you can turn off your
restore, restart your computer, turn your computer restore
back on and create another restore point.(This will
delete all the previous restore points.Go to my
computer,,,view system information,,,systen restore
tab,,,check box for turn off system
restore,,,apply,,,ok,,,restart computer,,,then go back
and uncheck box,,,apply,,,OK,,,restart computer,,,go back
and create a restore point. This removes them.
