How long do appointments stay on the calender after the day has passed? Do I have to manually clean off the appointments?

They are there forever unless you have AutoArchive configured to either
archive them or to delete them.

I believe they last about a year (despite what Roady said). No you don't
need to manually clean them.

Nope, they last forever.

Just curious; What made you think a year?

Two reasons. One is that another MVP in this group said that a while back
and because I go went looking in my calendar and non-repeating appointments
prior to Augist of 2003 are gone. (And I didn't delete them)

And no retention on it either?

I still have all my appointments. It wouldn't make any sense to delete them
automatically For instance; I store data in them (think about agenda,
presentations, prerequisites, notes, route descriptions... just about
anything really). I've never lost a single piece of data.
