cleaning my disc

i have tried numerous times to clean my disc and can't
get it to work. the disc clean up comes on and it says
compressing old files but never does anything. my computer
is running slow and i need to do this. it has worked in
the past. Thank you

I am having the same problem. I tried to run disc
cleanup and It just sits there doing nothing. It says
compressing old files, but I have left it to run for over
and hour with no results. I didn't have this problem with
98. My pc is running SO slow! Help!

defragmentation needs 15% free space to run and it is
good idea to get in habit of 'routine of running'
first - chkdsk.exe/checkdisk/
then defrag
then delete temp files and cookies
and should keep your disk clean and org'd
and take it fr there

You have to fix it inside the Register.
Two pages with a little bit different solutions for this
problem. Don't forget to make a backup of the specific key
or hive fo the Reg before you do anything. Another idea I
found at a M-soft page is to just rename the key to
something you easy remeber & leave it where it is.
