Cinfo xml missing when trying to use scannow

Hi, I am trying to do a scannow which I like to do every now & again to check
all files are in place,I can't use the feature at all, it tells me i am
missing cinfo.xml & I can't find it anywhere, stupid me even put another
Windows product in to look but can't find it on any of the cds, on the SP2
disc, or on the computer.
I have XP home SP2 & this is a pretty new computer with i think just a
restore disk?, well, it has the computers branding on it so I'm not too sure,
but i assumed i could use the scannow function like I used to on the other
computer with XP pro with no problems.

Any ideas what would cause this, I even looked in all the hidden files to
look for this mystery file, but i can't find it anywhere, all this came about
when I wanted to install the old msn explorer on this computer but that wont
work so thats why I tried the scannow fuunction, when i tried to install it,
yep, you guessed it, same file is missing.

I would check to see if MSN Explorer is properly installed.

I think I have the same problem as the orginal poster. Basically I
un-installed MSN Explorer using Add/Remove Windows Components as I didn't
think I needed it. Now MSN Messenger hangs when I sign in. When I try to
re-install MSN Explorer it prompts me for the cinfo.xml file but I don't have
it on my hard drive or Windows XP Home CD. Has anyone found a resolution to
this problem?
