Christmas every day.

Sounds wonderful, but it is not. I have a reminder for Christmas pop up
every time I start Outlook. If I click Dismiss it still comes back the next
time I open Outlook. If I click Open, nothing happens. This particular
Calendar event does not appear on my calendar when I go and look at the date.

I tried doing "Outlook.exe /cleanreminders". It does not work, even when I
ensure via Task Manager that Outlook is not running.

I tried ScanPST.exe. It had no impact.

Where is this calendar event coming from? Why can't I make it go away?

Do an advanced find on the calendar and I would check your
tasks as well.

- Press Ctrl + Shift + F
- Change the Look For: text box to ANY TYPE OF OUTLOOK ITEM
- Search for the word(s): The subject of the Christmas Pop-up
- Click Find Now

Thanks Nikki. That did not fix it.

It found many similar ones, and I was able to simply delete them. However,
it did not find this particular one that I can not get rid of.

I tried adding another exactly like it, and I was able to. Then they both
popped up as overdue. I was able to dismiss the new one and it did not come
back. However, the problem one did come back.

Next I tried Snoozing the bad one. This is what I got...

"Cannot postpone the reminder. The message you specified cannot be found."

After clicking OK, I got:

There is an error snoozing the reminder "AO Holiday: Christmas". Snooze
operation terminated.

Then the reminder dialog comes back and the only thing I can do is dismiss
it, but it NEVER GOES AWAY!!!!!

start->run->outlook.exe /cleanreminders - Note the space after the .exe

Do you mean that trying to use the command produced an error or that the
command was accepted byut appear to have no effect? If the former, it's
probably because you did not include the space in front of the slash.

I have found that there can be corruption in the Calendar Folder itself.
This
would require a fresh new folder.

What version of Operating system?

The command line looks kinda like (Depends on what version of Outlook
you are using as to WHERE your Outlook.exe file is located):

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Outlook.exe " /CleanReminders

Note: Paths that include spaces between words must be enclosed in quotation
marks (") and are case sensitive.

didn't help, I'd either try outlookspy to delete the hidden reminder folder
and browse for the christmas entry in the calendar - or make a new pst and
move everything to it. (It would depend how much time I wanted to waste and
how much I wanted to investigate.)

to delete hidden items but you'll need to find the reminder folder and
browse the calendar folder to see if there is an errant christmas
appointment.

I installed OutlookSpy, but I don't know how to use it to find this reminder
(or anything else for that matter). I'm not able to figure it out from the
contents of the OutlookSpy how-to's either.

I would try the switch that Diane (MVP Guru) suggested first.
It is used the same as the clean reminders was.

The /resetfolders, Restores missing folders at the default
delivery location.

to use that pst as your "delivery location". Then copy all the info from
the old pst into the new pst.

OK, here is how it went...

I created the new PST, but when I went to import the old one I found that I
did not know the password to it.

I downloaded PstPassword from download.com. It is free, and it worked. I
had to wade through all the offerings for the same type of thing for $10 and
up.

So, I my Outlook back and reconfigured, as far as I can tell, and the ghost
of Christmas 2008 finally past.
