choppy video

I finally got MM2 to work with my USB Hauppauge tuner. I had to switch from
digital audio to analog using the sound card to get it to work. So I set
about to capture my first movie. For two and a half hours it captured.
Then it spent TWO HOURS saving that two and a half hours! Then the video
ended up being too jerky to watch. The system is 1.3gHz and the Hauppage
soft PVR has been working fine but I wanted to try MM2. I think the problem
here is that the USB video is compressed and MM2 was having to uncompress
it. Is that a reasonable assumption? I was set for "Best for this
computer... 320x240 30 fps same as I use with MM1 and a PCI tuner card.

It sounds like the problem is the computer is not fast enough to do record
software PVR and capture and encode the Windows Media File. You can try
capturing to a format which doesn't as much CPU power to encode (lower
bitrate instead of Best for your computer) or using a hardware capture card.

It turns out the driver defaults to 25fps. I tried again making sure I was
set to 30fps. Also, I don't know how it could matter, but I found I had
disabled video acceleration for a problem video game and I corrected that.
Now movies save instantly and play perfectly and I think MM2 does a better
job than the softPVR. softPVR has the advantage of timer recording so I'm
conflicted which to use.
