Choppy fade to black effect

Jeremy

I recently got a new monitor, a Samsung 22 inch flat panel. I am using
the same video card, but I used to have a DVI-to-VGA adapter, but now
my monitor supports DVI so I dont use the converter anymore.

Ever since, Vista seems to hang for about 10 seconds anytime it does
the fade to black effect (like when shutting down or for security
warnings). Actually, I have seen a general performance degrade on the
whole. Browsers are slower and scrolling and text editing in Word and
Visual Studio are much less responsive.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeremy

You left out what make/model video card you have.
