Choosing the startup operating system

I apparently have two implementations of WinXP Pro on my
PIII desktop. After the bios flash I get a screen
inviting me to choose one of two operating systems using
the up arrow / down arrow keys.

The first operating system is apparently a "repair mode",
which I would like to keep as an option. The second
operating system is the normal WinXP, which is where I
normally want to start.

If I do not choose the second, normal operating system
within a few seconds of this screen's presentation,
the "repair mode" system is automatically chosen. This is
inconvenient: I would like the second, or normal
operating system to be the first, reluctance start-up
mode. If necessary, I would sacrifice the option to go
into repair mode at startup.

I have looked into the bios, and all through the systedit
options trying to find out how to do this; but I can't
figure it out.

Suggestions please!

Go to Control Panel, System, Advanced, Startup and Recovery. You can change the Default choice there.

Go to Start > Run and type: MSCONFIG , and hit enter.
Under the Boot.ini tab, use the MOVE DOWN button to
adjust the boot order to your preference, then click Apply.

Go to Control Panel - System - Advanced and in Startup and Error, click
Settings. You can there change the default system to use, and also
shorten the time before that is taken, to taste.
