I have a new computer (Acer "laptop" with a Maxtor 120GB drive)
and I cannot run chkdsk on the C: drive. I use a command prompt
with "chkdsk C: /r" or right-click on the C: drive in Windows
Explorer (in XP Home) and try to run chkdsk through Properties.
Each time it tells me, as it should, that it will run chkdsk
during the next boot. However in the next boot I get the message
"CANNOT OPEN THE VOLUME FOR DIRECT ACCESS."
Because I can't run chkdsk, Partition Magic 8.0 will not work.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
John
