CHKDSK won't run

CHKDSK set to run the blue screen comes up,files systen is NTFS, unable to
access drive, windows will start normally.... The trouble started when I
tried to use the auto download feature in my antivirus it says
AutoDownload.exe-Corrupt File the file or directory C:\Doc and
settings\Owner|Localsettings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\V5F4nftq is
corrupt or unreadable.please run Chkdsk utility.(This only happens under
Owner, four other users have no problem.)Also can't defrag, because Chkdsk is
set to run.Have tried several fixes from Kelly's Korner, after reading some
previous post about same type of problems.-Just a side note I have an H/P
that has the restore partitioned on the drive(one of the first ones that they
made like that).I have done a drive to drive from 30 gig to 120 gig (several
years ago)and it refused to copy system restore because of the partition,so I
have no restore on it.Also I am waiting on H\P to send me the OS disc for
the computer so if need be repair it.Q: is-can I do anything now to fix
this,so I can at least run the defrag?Or should I just wait and reinstall
windows when the disc arrive then reload 80 gigs of backup's?(then at least
I'll have restore points, for I have been very lucky so far not to need
them).Thanx for all reply's in advance.

Have you tried a trial third party application? I'd give O&O a shot, it
can't hurt to try and it's free to at least try it out and see if it does
the trick for you...

O&O Software's versatile disk utilities for Windows:

You mentioned that it was just under one account. Seems logical that your
next step might be migrating to a new account and deleting the old one to
see if that somehow strangely cures the problem.

Certainly make as many backups onto CD, other discs, as you can now, to
avoid disappointment later.

If you have recovery console installed on your hard drive, then try entering
that, and running chkdsk from there.
Alternatively also be able to install it, if you have an i386 folder on your
hard drive.

Alternatively, (in addition), you can try running chkdsk from the command
line (start > run > cmd)
Type chkdsk /? for options. Don't use the /x or /f options initially. Make
careful note of any error messages that occur.
