CHKDSK WinXPsp3

I clicked on My Computer and then right clicked on C: / Properties / Tools.
Then Error Checking / Check Now.
I clicked Start - Then got Disk Check Complete (No results)
I then ran Automatically fix file system errors - it did it thing and once
again (no results).
I then ran Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. Once again it did
it's thing and once again - no results.
Am I supposed to be seeing any results? Or am I using wrong procedure? One
article said to check Start/Control Panel/Adm Tools/Event Viewer/Log (I
didn't see Log; so i looked in Application and to look for Autochk, which I
could not find.
What am I doing wrong? How can I get results? Is that possible?
Thank you. Alice

Youre OS is somewhat confused, you should get "Check on next restart" to
chk the disk. Also,xp cant repair bad sectors until a restart on pc takes
place.
Try run,type:cmd In cmd type:CHKDSK C: /F Agree to restart,type:EXIT
restart pc.To do a CHKDSK & repair bad sectors (if any are bad),type:
CHKDSK C: /R Running a repair takes 20-45 min.,depending on hd size,repair
really should be done in recovery console (boot to xp cd),but both methods
are ok
Also,if xp foiled in youre previous attempt, you might run:Sfc /Scannow in
cmd.

The logging of chkdsk operations is through Event Viewer but the
information provided is not very detailed. You can get more information
using chkdsk but in a different way to that which I think you have
tried. Check the hard drive for bad sectors by running chkdsk c: /r. The
omission of /f is deliberate. It will not take so long and just reports.

Another way to investigate your hard drive is to use HD Tune.

Try HD Tune only gives information and does not fix any
problems.

Download and run it and see what it turns up. You want HD Tune
(freeware) version 2.55 not HD Tune Pro (not Freeware) version 3.00.
http://www.hdtune.com/

Select the Info tabs and place the cursor on the drive under Drive
letter and then double click the two page icon ( copy to Clipboard )
and copy into a further message.

Select the Health tab and then double click the two page icon ( copy to
Clipboard ) and copy into a further message. Make sure you do a full
surface scan with HD Tune.

Hope this helps.
